Industry Experience:

Michael Kearney brings his focus on issues regarding data protection and information privacy to his role as a Senior Attorney at Redgrave LLP. Michael has significant experience in the analysis and implementation of information security (IS) policies, along with the management of IS teams and program development. Michael works with a diverse client base including the pharmaceutical, financial and insurance industries. Some of Michael’s recent work experience includes:

  • Assisting with preparation of expert reports regarding legal hold implementation and preservation efforts
  • Assisting with development of expert witness testimony regarding standard best practices in eDiscovery
  • Conducting database investigation and analysis
  • Drafting response letters to discovery requests from opposing counsel
  • Preparing expert reports that address preservation and eDiscovery practices
  • Providing counsel regarding preservation requirements for mobile technologies, BYOD and social media
  • Advising clients on how to respond to data breach issues
  • Conducting interviews of key custodians for preservation purposes
  • Drafting updates for the eDiscovery chapter in Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts, 4th

Prior to joining Redgrave LLP, Michael served as an analyst supporting new technology, information security, and privacy matters. Before pursuing his legal career, Michael worked for Wells Fargo Bank, where he managed a team of information security analysts that conducted information security risk assessments.

ORGANIZATIONAL INVOLVEMENT & MEMBERSHIPS:

Michael is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and The Sedona Conference®, Working Group on Best Practices for Electric Document Retention and Production (WG-1).

EDUCATION:

Michael received a J.D. from William & Mary School of Law and a B.A. in Computer Science and History from Washington and Lee University. Michael is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and California.
