Industry Experience:

Staci Kaliner has more than 25 years of experience in the professional services industry and has spent her career engaged with clients across many industries and business functions.  This experience has provided her with the ability to communicate with business, technical, and legal leaders to translate the complex issues and risks they face, into cost-effective, defensible solutions that align with the requirements of the law.  Staci’s knowledge and experience across many complex matters, companies, and industries results in her ability to adapt in a complex and continually evolving technology environment to ensure that Redgrave’s advice is focused on the right issues, with the least impact to the client’s business. 

Staci routinely works with teams advising clients on the design and implementation of leading practice processes to support and reduce the eDiscovery related litigation risk, build efficacies into their processes, and identify and implement information governance best practices.  She has a passion for identifying defensible methods for leveraging technology, including defining defensible eDiscovery processes for Microsoft Office 365, advising clients on selection of service providers, selection and implementation of software to enable eDiscovery and Information Governance processes, and best practice management of eDiscovery service providers.  Her experience includes work with Fortune 50-500 clients spanning multiple industries, including Automotive, Insurance, Food & Beverage, Franchise, Healthcare, Construction, Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, and Energy.

Some of Staci’s recent work experience includes:

  • Defining strategies for the efficient and defensible use of Technology Assisted Review (TAR) in multiple phases of litigation
  • Assisting teams in negotiations with plaintiffs regarding protocols and defensibility of Technology Assisted Review (TAR) on large, multi-national complex matters
  • Working with clients to develop defensible eDiscovery processes to support implementation of Microsoft Office 365 (O365)
  • Assisting clients regarding the development of defensible processes for use of Google Applications for Enterprise/Vault and related targeted legal hold and records retention features
  • Developing cost-effective evidence preservation strategies for multiple large scale, complex litigation matters including defining tiering strategies
  • Evaluating, assessing, and defining key requirements for a defensible preservation and collection approach for Jive-based corporate collaboration technology
  • Establishing and implementing process for the defensible configuration, implementation, and testing of legal hold notice platforms
  • Working with clients to develop proportional and practical approaches to address challenges associated with the preservation of social media
  • Evaluating and assessing approaches for the collection and analysis of data from mobile devices
  • Establishing and implementing preservation programs relating to data associated with departing employees
  • Defining strategy for internal investigations, including vendor selection, management of project logistics, analysis of sensitive data, and identification of experts
  • Developing, analyzing, and testing of search terms and leading the evaluation of early data assessment tools and techniques
  • Advising counsel on the impact of the presence or loss of data within data collections
  • Supporting eDiscovery Counsel efforts through definition of approaches to ensure defensibility in service provider processes, defining preservation strategies, negotiating effective protocols, and ensuring efficiency in execution and alignment of collection, culling, and review approaches to agreements between parties and/or orders of courts

Prior to joining Redgrave LLP, Staci worked as the Director of Computer Forensics and Electronic Discovery Services at JurInnov Ltd.  In this role, she worked with legal and business clients on the application of technology solutions as they pertained to litigation.  Staci also spent 17 years with Ernst & Young in both New York City and Cleveland.  While there, she worked with global practice leaders to define strategic and tactical direction of their software-based applications.  She also designed tools to identify fraud, defined data analysis processes, and managed financial statement audits.

Organizational Involvement & Memberships:

Staci is a Certified eDiscovery Specialist (CEDS), Certified Public Accountant (CPA)(Inactive), and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF).  She is a member of the High Technology Crime Investigator’s Association, FBI InfraGard, ACEDS, Northeast Ohio Software Association, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and the American Institute of CPAs.

Education:

Staci received a B.S., magna cum laude, from Syracuse University.
