Eli is a litigator and data scientist who focuses on efficient legal risk management for complex data and eDiscovery matters.  He has extensive experience advising clients on issues such as corporate mergers and divestitures, antitrust, regulatory compliance, products liability, and government enforcement investigations.

Eli works with clients and key stakeholders to develop efficient approaches to decoding complex information ecosystems to conduct practical, high value analyses for litigation, regulatory enforcement, and M&A matters.  

For over two decades, Eli has supported clients and collaborated with industry thought leaders to address the legal challenges of exponential data growth.  His deep understanding and experience with complex enterprise data architecture allow him to guide technical, business, and legal stakeholders in finding common ground and solutions that work.  Eli regularly supports his work with statistical sampling, structured and unstructured data analytics, and machine learning approaches.

Prior to joining Redgrave, Eli was a counsel at Sidley Austin LLP.  His previous roles include establishing the Disputes, Claims & Investigations Analytics practice at a consulting firm, where he leveraged data analytics across existing practices and conducted complex data analyses supporting investigations and litigation as both a consulting and testifying expert.  Eli also practiced at large law firms in Washington, D.C. and New Orleans, including Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, and McKee Nelson LLP.

Eli’s work experience includes:

  • Serving as eDiscovery and Data counsel for numerous responses to Second Requests from the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
  • Negotiating and advising on ESI discovery protocols in connection with government investigations and complex litigation, domestic and abroad
  • Advising on data risk management strategies for clients involved in large divestitures and spin-offs
  • Conducting investigations into digital advertising practices of a highly regulated entity in connection with industry-wide anti-discrimination inquiries
  • Handling data and eDiscovery relating to an investigation by the DOJ and multiple U.S. Attorney’s Offices into Medicare Advantage Plans
  • Advising on defensible legal risk reduction strategies, including data inventory sampling to support the defensible deletion of legacy company data for highly regulated entities
  • Advising on legal risk mitigation strategies in connection with large-scale consumer data processing re-architecture plan
