With a background navigating Information Law issues in complex litigation, Nick helps clients through all stages of discovery in litigation and investigation matters. 

He has managed nationwide discovery issues for an FDA-regulated company in a product liability litigation as well as regulatory and public enforcement actions; addressed discovery issues in a multi-jurisdiction litigation matter for a large pharmaceutical client; provided consulting expert services and supporting testifying experts in several prominent cases; leaded information governance initiatives for a Fortune 50 client; and served as discovery counsel for two large insurance companies in significant antitrust litigation matters.

Nick’s work spans the entire discovery process and every phase of litigation, including establishing high-level discovery strategy for large-scale matters, responding to discovery requests, negotiating scope with opposing counsel, drafting and arguing discovery disputes, and managing document review for production, fact development, and deposition preparation.  He also assists clients with information governance matters, addressing data-related challenges and advising on data governance solutions.    

Nick has also contributed to the drafting of amicus briefs in 2020 and 2022 that were filed in the United States Supreme Court on behalf of the Lawyers for Civil Justice, and to the drafting of several other amicus briefs submitted to lower courts.

Before joining Redgrave, Nick was a litigator at a top Chicago law firm and prior to that served as a clerk for district court judges in the Northern Districts of Indiana and Illinois, and an intern for a judge in the Northern District of California.

Nick’s work experience includes:

  • Serving as discovery counsel for two co-defendants in a major antitrust class action suit and related spin-off matters, ensuring all aspects of litigation are aligned with merits strategy
  • Managing an audit of discovery issues in and serving as discovery counsel for an FDA-regulated company in a set of national product liability and public enforcement matters
  • Representing a large pharmaceutical company with respect to disputed discovery issues in federal and state court litigation
  • Managing discovery and development of facts for an independent director investigation in a restructuring matter for an energy industry provider of engineering, construction, and installation services
  • Providing pro bono representation for asylum applicants fleeing religious or political persecution, an animal rescue organization, and a domestic violence shelter
