Billy has extensive experience setting up and managing large-scale document review projects and assisting with discovery requests and responses, depositions, trials, and arbitrations.  He works closely with clients on overall litigation preparedness from the discovery perspective.  Billy has advised clients on litigation solutions in a broad range of matters, including intellectual property, professional malpractice, constitutional, environmental, and regulatory issues.

At Redgrave, Billy’s work in complex litigation has included managing the sealing process throughout entire cases, from filings to trial exhibits, along with monitoring sealing and confidentiality during trial.  Billy also supports document collections, interviewing key custodians and witnesses, responding to document and interrogatory requests, preparing witnesses for depositions and trial testimony, negotiating search terms, participating in meet-and-confer sessions, and assisting with the preparation of and quality control for privilege logs.

Before joining Redgrave, Billy was an associate and member of the eData practice at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.  He also served as a Law Clerk in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

Billy’s work experience includes:

  • Serving as lead counsel handling multiple sealing efforts for a large healthcare company, including managing filings, trial exhibits, arguing and winning a motion to seal, and monitoring court proceedings to ensure compliance with sealing orders
  • Consulting with a global automotive manufacturing company focused on developing a customizable template of ESI protocols and protective orders
  • Assisting multiple clients with privilege challenge workflows, including coordinating strategy with merits counsel, meeting and conferring with opposing parties, preparing responses to challenges, interviewing key client personnel, and drafting declarations
  • Managing the global collection strategy and execution for a global medical device company; work included interviewing custodians worldwide, coordinating with IT system managers to implement collections, and issuing subpoenas to third parties concerning data preservation
