Industry Experience:

Michael has extensive experience providing advice and developing technical solutions and processes to address complex legal issues related to electronically stored information (ESI).  He regularly counsels clients regarding data protection, information privacy, information governance, eDiscovery, and emerging artificial intelligence issues.

With a multi-faceted background in technology, law, and consulting, Michael uses his experience to extract, analyze, and visualize structured and unstructured data to find strategic solutions for complex Information Law challenges.  He advises clients on the practical tools and processes to help litigation and project teams understand data and develop effective case and project strategies.  Michael also speaks and writes on recent advancements in artificial intelligence and related impacts to the fields of privacy, information governance, security, and eDiscovery.

Some of Michael’s recent work experience includes:

  • Developing and implementing discovery, information governance, security, privacy, and artificial intelligence strategies and policies, as well as related standards and technical controls for multiple clients
  • Developing solutions for the analysis of large, structured data sets for discovery and data breach response inquiries for clients
  • Advising clients regarding the adoption of evolving AI tools for legal data analysis
  • Assisting with the preparation of expert reports regarding legal hold implementation and preservation efforts
  • Assisting with the development of expert witness testimony regarding best practices in eDiscovery
  • Conducting database investigation and analysis
  • Drafting response letters to discovery requests from opposing counsel and assisting with related eDiscovery motion practice.
  • Advising clients regarding preservation requirements for mobile technologies, BYOD, and social media

Before rejoining Redgrave LLP in 2024, Michael was the Head Solutions Architect at Redgrave Data.  He also served as a Legal Technology Solutions Architect at Hogan Lovells.  His career trajectory began at Wells Fargo, where he managed an information security risk department team.  Michael then attended law school and practiced as an attorney at Redgrave LLP.

ORGANIZATIONAL INVOLVEMENT & MEMBERSHIPS:

Michael is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and The Sedona Conference®, Working Group on Best Practices for Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1).  Michael is a certified Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP).

EDUCATION:

Michael received his J.D. from William & Mary School of Law and a B.A. in Computer Science and History from Washington and Lee University.  Michael is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
