Special Services

Overview

Discovery matters often necessitate focused services, capabilities, and counsel to address complex and contentious issues in litigation.  We assist clients with navigating these challenges as a skilled and knowledgeable resource, providing a range of what we call “special services.”

These services include delivering expert testimony or serving as a court-appointed neutral or expert advisor, along with counseling and representing clients regarding particularly challenging, complex, or high-stakes discovery disputes, privilege challenges, or confidentiality issues.  Our special services capabilities draw upon our team’s deep understanding of the critical, technical, and novel issues that arise in matters where discovery plays a pivotal role in the direction of litigation.  We have extensive experience serving in these roles and have addressed a broad range of cutting-edge discovery-related issues in high-stakes matters, including issues concerning the scope of discovery, preservation, collection, production, proportionality, and claims related to privilege or confidentiality.

We bring unique value to our special services engagements because of our focus on discovery and the collaboration among our highly experienced discovery lawyers and advisors with deep technical and business knowledge.  Our team is at the forefront of changes in the legal landscape and in leading efforts to understand the intricacies of evolving technologies.  In addition to having two of our attorneys as Fellows of the Academy of Court-Appointed Neutrals (ACAN), the nation’s foremost organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of court-appointed neutrals, our professionals also have a history of leadership and participation in prominent eDiscovery organizations, including The Sedona Conference®, Lawyers for Civil Justice, the Seventh Circuit Electronic Discovery Pilot Program, and the Georgetown University eDiscovery Advisory Board.
